At Hot Shots Shooting Center & Training Academy, we believe hope is not a strategy. Founded by two gun-owning women who saw a glaring need for real self-defense education in North Central Ohio, we made it our mission to ensure every woman has access to the skills, mindset, and training that might one day save her life—or the lives of her loved ones.
Our Story: Born Out of Necessity
Too many women fear they’ll be outmatched in a life-threatening situation. Despite a growing number of gun owners, traditional “training facilities” often overlook female-specific needs. We decided to change that. In 2024, Hot Shots Shooting Center & Training Academy opened its doors—and, since Day One, we’ve been stunned by the overwhelming response.
- 64% of our patrons are women—many of whom have shared harrowing experiences, from domestic abuse to frightening close calls in everyday life.
- Their stories strengthened our resolve: nobody should feel helpless or out of options when faced with danger.
Our Mission: Empowerment Through Education
Everything we do supports our core mission:
- Provide a safe and comfortable environment for men and especially women to learn and train.
- Equip women with the mindset, skills, and confidence to stand tall—even in the most intimidating situations.
- Grow empowered citizens who build empowered communities, ultimately shaping strong, confident youth.
The Three-Class Ladies’ Self-Defense Series

In these hands-on sessions, you’ll discover the secrets law enforcement and other professionals rely on when seconds count. Whether you’ve never touched a firearm or you already own one, you’ll walk away with:
- Lifesaving Strategies to manage real-world threats with calm, calculated response.
- Expert Instruction from certified trainers who specialize in teaching women—no intimidation, no judgment.
- Unlimited Retakes at no extra charge, because practice means everything.
- Ongoing Support through our partnership with Armed Women of America (AWA). We’re proud to have founded and now sponsor the North Central Ohio Chapter, meeting every 4th Tuesday of the month from 6:00 PM–8:00 PM.
